Client : Food Manufacturer
Situation : The client has over twenty plants with multiple product lines, experiencing uneven production runs and various levels of success with product lines. Sales of selected products are decreasing, with plant closings a possibility.
Marketing Concepts, Inc. Solution : Marketing Concepts Inc. conducted a review of products, customer base, plant production, and plant capacity. This determined which products had the most opportunity for growth within new markets given current/future trends as well as competitive products. The overall manufacturing of each plant was evaluated, including current production schedules and product types. The client was provided a list of recommendations as to product manufacturing and plant usage, without major capital expenses within any given plant.
Results : The client focused on growth opportunities and increasing production in plants with extra capacity. The products that were decreasing in sales were discontinued and new sales and marketing strategies were created for products with potential. No plant closings were needed and employees were all retained as opposed to being laid off. New or improved product lines or new markets allowed for greater sales and overall margins.
